Meet our Team

James

Dr. James Hensel, D.O. completed his Bachelor of Science in Biology Summa Cum Laude from Oklahoma Wesleyan in 2011. He completed his medical degree at Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences in 2015. Dr. Hensel is board certified in Emergency Medicine and completed his training at Oklahoma State University Medical Center in 2019 where he was Chief Resident of his program and Chairman of the Chief’s Council.

He has since worked for two of Tulsa’s major health systems, trauma centers, and has worked in many rural hospitals in Oklahoma and Kansas. His experience in multiple practice settings has led to a passion to help people avoid unnecessary hospitalizations through high level care delivered where patients live.

Dr. Chad Phillips, M.D. is a board-certified emergency medicine physician with over 25 years of clinical and leadership experience across a broad spectrum of healthcare settings.

 He earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas and completed his residency in emergency medicine at Wake Forest University.

Dr. Phillips’ experience includes 13 years as Chairman and Co-Director of Emergency Medicine at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  He has also served in direct patient care and director roles in long term care, memory care, and hospice settings. Currently, Dr. Phillips provides care in more than 40 long-term care, assisted living, and memory care centers across Northeast Oklahoma. 

Outside of medicine, Dr. Phillips has been married to his wife Shelley for 27 years and is the father of three children. He’s an active member of First Baptist Church in Tulsa and has a passion for coaching youth sports, with over 30 seasons of coaching experience.

Monica

Monica Winford, APRN is a dedicated wound care specialist with almost 20 years of experience in the field of nursing. With a strong commitment to improving patient outcomes, she specializes in the assessment, treatment, and management of various types of wounds, including diabetic ulcers, pressure sores, and surgical wounds.

After earning her Masters degree in Nursing from University of Missouri Kansas City. Monica pursued additional certification in wound care, becoming a certified wound care nurse (WCC) is passionate about staying current with the latest advancements in wound management and employs evidence-based practices to provide the highest quality of care to her patients.

Ms Winford believes in a holistic approach to wound care, focusing not only on physical healing but also on patient education and support. She works closely with interdisciplinary teams to create personalized care plans that address individual patient needs and promote overall well-being.

Ashley Gilliland, APRN, WCC is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with over 18 years of experience in emergency medicine and a deep passion for wound care. Her nursing journey began at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, where she earned her nursing degree in 2007. After working as an ER nurse and jail nurse in Southern Illinois, she moved to Oklahoma in 2009 to be closer to family and continued advancing her career. She completed her Family Nurse Practitioner degree at Pittsburg State University in 2014 and achieved her Emergency Nurse Practitioner board certification in 2020.

Throughout her career, she has been drawn to the complexity and challenge of wound management. She has seen firsthand how personalized treatment and persistence can transform outcomes-helping patients once facing amputation heal and walk again. After completing wound care education courses she developed a commitment to maintaining specialized knowledge in the field and strives to provide high-quality, compassionate care of every patient she serves.

Outside of work, she is a proud wife and mother to one son and three daughters. She enjoys supporting her husband at the racetrack as his back-up girl (BUG), and she is deeply devoted to faith, family and her patients.
